Gradually trek through forests to Tyanje village (2,360 m) and onward to Chame, Manangโs administrative centre. Enjoy stunning Annapurna II views, soak in natural hot springs, and explore the local Tibetan-influenced culture.
Tilicho Lake (4,919โฏm)
Experience the pinnacle of Himalayan adventure with the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake, a journey that combines one of Nepalโs most iconic trekking routes with a detour to the worldโs highest lake. This trek offers a perfect blend of breathtaking mountain vistas, cultural immersion, and the thrill of high-altitude trekking.
The Annapurna Circuit is a classic trek, celebrated for its extraordinary natural beauty, cultural richness, and ever-changing landscapes. The trail traditionally begins from Besi Sahar, winding through terraced fields, subtropical forests, and charming villages before ascending into the high Himalayas.
While recent road developments allow for motorable access up to Manang, we recommend driving only as far as Chame to allow proper acclimatisation and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. From Chame, the trek continues through picturesque villages like Upper Pisang and Ngawal, leading to the base of the famous Thorong La Pass. Crossing this high pass rewards trekkers with panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
After descending from Thorong La, trekkers reach Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site. From here, a bus ride to Pokhara is possible for those seeking a faster return. The trek can be tailored to your scheduleโwhether completing the full circuit or choosing a shorter segment, you will encounter diverse cultures, striking landscapes, and unforgettable Himalayan experiences.
Trek with Tilicho Lake?
The side trip to Tilicho Lake elevates this trek into a remarkable adventure. Nestled in a remote valley and framed by snow-capped peaks, the lakeโs turquoise waters are awe-inspiring. Reaching the lake is physically demanding, with high altitude and unpredictable weather presenting a true challenge. Standing at the lakeโs edge, surrounded by Himalayan giants, is a moment that stays with trekkers forever.
Culture & Nature
This trek is more than just a hiking experienceโitโs a journey through diverse ecosystems and vibrant cultures. Trek through lush forests alive with wildlife, traverse stark high-altitude terrains, and witness life thriving in extreme environments.
The trail is dotted with traditional villages, where warm hospitality, local cuisine, and daily mountain life provide a glimpse into Nepalโs unique heritage. Teahouses along the route offer comfort, rest, and opportunities to connect with fellow adventurers.
The Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake is suited for experienced hikers who are physically fit and prepared for high-altitude trekking. Gradual ascent, rest days, and proper acclimatisation are essential to minimise risks such as altitude sickness. Consulting with a physician before the trek is strongly advised.
For those ready, this trek promises more than a physical challengeโit offers a transformative Himalayan experience: spectacular landscapes, rich cultural encounters, and the thrill of standing beside one of the worldโs highest lakes.
Mild daytime temperatures, cooler nights, and blooming rhododendrons make spring visually spectacular. Clear skies provide panoramic views of the Annapurna range and Tilicho Lake.
Stable weather, excellent visibility, and comfortable trekking temperatures make autumn the peak trekking season. Expect lively trails and fully operational teahouses.
Both seasons offer incredible experiencesโspring dazzles with flowers, while autumn ensures optimal trekking conditions.
