CLIMBING PERMIT REGUALTION IN NEPAL

In Nepal, obtaining a climbing permit is a mandatory requirement before beginning any mountaineering expedition. All climbing permits must be processed through a registered travel or trekking company, as individual applications for peak climbing are not permitted.

For peaks below 6,500 meters, climbing permits are issued by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). Climbers must submit the necessary documents, including a copy of their passport, high-altitude insurance, and two passport-sized photos, to Adventure Fourteen Summit Pvt. Ltd. before arriving in Kathmandu. The company will then handle all required paperwork and secure the necessary permits.

The Adventure Fourteen Summit guide is responsible for collecting the climbing permit and presenting it at each checkpoint during the expedition. It is important to note that permit fees are non-refundable once paid, regardless of whether the climb is completed or abandoned.

By adhering to these regulations, climbers ensure a smooth and legal ascent while contributing to the responsible management of Nepal’s mountain tourism.

Garbage Deposit Fee

For every peak climbing expedition, a garbage deposit fee must be paid, which is managed by Adventure Fourteen Summit Pvt. Ltd. The company is responsible for ensuring that all waste generated during the expedition is either properly disposed of or returned.

The expedition team must destroy or recycle any waste that can be disposed of in front of the concerned Nepal Government authorities. However, any non-recyclable or non-disposable waste must be brought back to Kathmandu and handed over to the designated government department, as per regulations.

Adventure Fourteen Summit remains committed to maintaining the pristine environment of Nepal’s mountains by ensuring responsible waste management on all expeditions.

As per the decision of the secretary-level dated 2014/4/29, the insurance amount for Sardar, mountain guide, and high altitude worker fund is fixed at Rs 15 lakhs. Similarly, medical insurance has been fixed at Rs 4 lakhs. A mountain heli-rescue of 10,000 USD is also required.
Note: The maximum number of members in a team is 15.
The garbage deposit to acquire a climbing permit will be the same i.e. USD 250. The refund shall be made as per the provisions of NMA.
