Climbing Permit Regulation in Nepal

Climbing in Nepal is an extraordinary experience, but it comes with specific regulations to ensure safety, legality, and environmental responsibility. Before embarking on any mountaineering expedition, obtaining a climbing permit is mandatory. Individual applications are not allowed—permits must be secured through a registered travel or trekking agency like Adventure Fourteen Summit Pvt. Ltd.

The permit fees for peaks between 6,000 meters and 6,500 meters are given below:

Permits for Peaks Below 6,500 Meters

For peaks under 6,500 meters, climbing permits are issued by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). To facilitate this process, climbers are required to submit essential documents, including:

1: A valid passport copy

2: High-altitude insurance

3: Two passport-sized photos

Adventure Fourteen Summit Pvt. Ltd. manages the complete permit process, ensuring that all paperwork is handled before your arrival in Kathmandu. During the expedition, your assigned guide is responsible for carrying and presenting the climbing permit at every checkpoint.

Important: Permit fees are non-refundable, regardless of whether the expedition is completed or abandoned.

Garbage Deposit Fee

Responsible mountaineering is crucial in preserving Nepal’s pristine landscapes. All expeditions include a garbage deposit fee, which is managed by Adventure Fourteen Summit. The expedition team ensures that:

1: Recyclable or disposable waste is appropriately destroyed or recycled under the supervision of Nepal Government authorities.

2: Non-recyclable or non-disposable waste is carried back to Kathmandu and handed over to the designated government department.
