7000M – 7500M PEAK CLIMBING PERMIT FEES

The Nepal Mountaineering Association has had the authority to issue climbing permits for small-scale peaks up to 6500 meters since 1978. Climbing permits for other peaks above 6500 meters can be obtained through the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. All mountaineering permits must be obtained through a travel or trekking company. Individual applications for peak climbing are not allowed. You must complete a bio-data form and send it to Adventure fourteen summit agency in Kathmandu. Before starting on any expedition, you must get a climbing permit. The expedition leader must collect the license, and each checkpoint must be present. Permit fees are non-refundable once paid in full.

Climbing permits for peaks above 6,500 meters in Nepal are issued by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. For peaks exceeding this altitude, it is mandatory to have a liaison officer assigned by the Nepal government, typically a section officer, overseeing and facilitating the expedition.

Role of the Liaison Officer:

1. Government Representative – Acts as the official link between the expedition team and Nepal’s government.

2. Monitoring & Reporting – Ensures climbers follow environmental and mountaineering regulations.

3. Permit Compliance – Verifies that the expedition adheres to the approved permit conditions.

4. Emergency Assistance – Coordinates with authorities in case of rescues or emergencies.

Expedition teams must pay for the liaison officer’s expenses, including salary, travel, food, and accommodation. However, in practice, many liaison officers do not physically accompany teams to base camps, though they still officially oversee the expedition.
