Everest Base Camp Trekย
Combining the iconic Everest Base Camp trek with the challenge of summiting Lobuche Peak is one of the most thrilling Himalayan adventures in Nepal. Lobuche Peak boasts two prominent summits: Lobuche East (6,119m) and Lobuche West (6,145m). Among these, Lobuche East is the preferred choice for climbers seeking a first-time ascent above 6,000 meters. This expedition gives adventurers the unique opportunity to experience both the classic Everest trek and high-altitude climbing in a single journey.
At Adventure Fourteen Summit, we specialise in crafting an unforgettable experience, guiding you step by step from the trails of Everest Base Camp to the summit of Lobuche Peak. Our itinerary is designed to gradually acclimatise trekkers, ensuring a safe ascent while preparing your body for the challenges of climbing above 6,000 meters. Along the way, youโll visit Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, both situated above 5,000 meters, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and the surrounding Himalayan giants.
This trek-cum-climb perfectly blends trekking and mountaineering, making it ideal for adventure seekers looking for both challenge and reward. It is especially suitable for climbers with prior experience at high altitudes (above 5,500 meters), providing a safe, structured path to summit Lobuche Peak while experiencing the natural wonders and cultural richness of the Everest region.
ย
The approach to Lobuche Peak Base Camp starts from Lukla, following the classic Everest Base Camp trail up to Namche Bazaar. From there, climbers have several route options to reach Lobuche Base Camp, each offering unique perspectives of the Khumbu region:
Ideal for seasoned trekkers seeking adventure, this route crosses Renjo La Pass (5,360m), explores the stunning Gokyo Lakes, and navigates Cho La Pass (5,420m) before arriving at Lobuche Base Camp.
A scenic option for those who want to combine high-altitude trekking with picturesque landscapes, including the serene Gokyo Lakes, before crossing Cho La Pass.
Tengboche & Dingboche:
A more direct approach for trekkers with limited time or those preferring a less strenuous climb, this path offers stunning vistas en route to Lobuche Base Camp.
This journey offers an unmatched combination of trekking, cultural encounters, and high-altitude climbing. From the Sherpa villages to the majestic peaks, every step of the expedition is a memory etched into the grandeur of the Himalayas.
The Everest Base Camp Trek combined with Lobuche Peak climbing is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, offering breathtaking Himalayan landscapes and the thrill of summiting one of Nepalโs most iconic peaks. To make the most of this expedition, timing your journey is crucial.
March to May:
Spring is the most popular season for Everest trekking and climbing. The weather is generally stable, temperatures are milder, and skies are clear, providing unparalleled visibility of the majestic peaks. This season is perfect for reaching Everest Base Camp and summiting Lobuche East (6,119m). While trails are busier during spring, the vibrant atmosphere of fellow adventurers adds to the experience.
September to November:
Autumn follows the monsoon season, leaving behind crisp, clear skies and dry conditions. This is another excellent window for trekking and climbing, offering cooler temperatures and spectacular visibility. With fewer trekkers than in spring, autumn provides a more serene journey through the Khumbu region while maintaining ideal conditions for summit attempts.
For safety and efficiency on Lobuche Peak, different guide-to-climber ratios are recommended:
A:ย 1:1 Ratio โ One guide per climber: Ideal for less experienced climbers, ensuring full attention and support throughout the summit attempt.
B:ย 1:2 Ratio โ One guide for two climbers: A common choice for experienced and acclimatised climbers, balancing safety with efficiency.
C:ย 1:3-4 Ratio โ One guide for three to four climbers: Suitable for highly skilled teams, providing personalised support on technical sections while allowing the guide to manage multiple climbers effectively.
1: Summit: 6,119 meters (20,075 feet)
2: High Camp: 5,400 meters (18,373 feet)
Reaching Lobuche High Camp requires prior acclimatisation, ascending gradually through lower camps to minimise the risk of altitude sickness. From High Camp, the ascent to the summit takes approximately 4โ6 hours, while descending back to High Camp takes about 3โ4 hours, depending on fitness, acclimatisation, weather, and chosen route.
15โ16 days is typical for the Everest Base Camp Trek with Lobuche Peak, including trekking, acclimatisation, and climbing days.
Approximately 140โ160 km (87โ99 miles), depending on route variations and side trips.
Expect 5โ7 hours per day, with shorter or longer days depending on terrain, altitude, and weather.

I trekked to EBC and climbed Lobuche with Temba and crew. They were amazing and attentive! My group were so well taken care of on the trip. They made sure we were fed, warm and safe and we had the adventure of a lifetime. The crew were knowledgeable about the mountain and the terrain and so fun to spend a few weeks with them! I would definitely recommend them to anyone I know planning to climb in the Himalayas.
I was with Temba and his Adventure 14 summit company on EBC trekking via Gokyo Lake, Chola Pass and Lobuche Peak. Temba (The Himalayan Sherpa) is the best Sherpa and Guide in the Nepal.
