MANASLU CIRCUIT TREK

WITH LARKYA LA PASS

ย Embark on the Manaslu Circuit Trek, an extraordinary journey through the heart of Nepal, culminating at the iconic Larkya La Pass. This trek offers intrepid travellers a blend of remote landscapes, high-altitude challenges, and immersive cultural encounters. As you traverse the pristine Manaslu Conservation Area, you will witness majestic views of Manaslu Peak, the worldโ€™s eighth-highest mountain, all while experiencing a trek far less crowded than the popular Annapurna Circuit.

ย

Explore Majestic Landscapes

The adventure begins in Soti Khola, following the serene Budhi Gandaki River through lush forests teeming with vibrant wildlife, including the elusive Danphe, Nepalโ€™s national bird. Marvel at the intricately terraced fields that adorn the hillsides, a testament to the skill and resilience of the local communities. Along the way, discover traditional villages inhabited by welcoming Tibetan-descended communities. Pause at a local teahouse for a warm cup of yak butter tea, an invitation into their rich culture and daily life.

ย

Gradual Ascent Through Culture and Nature

As the trail ascends, the terrain transforms dramatically: towering snow-capped peaks loom above deep gorges, dotted with cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear streams. Pass through picturesque villages like Jagat, Deng, Namrung, and Samagaun, each offering charming teahouses where trekkers can rest, savour authentic Nepali cuisine, and experience local traditions. Relish hearty meals like dal bhat, and in the evenings, enjoy traditional music and dance performances that bring the regionโ€™s culture vividly to life.

Conquer the Heights: Larkya La Pass

The highlight of the trek is the Larkya La Pass, standing at 5,160 meters (16,929 feet). This demanding high-altitude crossing tests both endurance and determination, featuring steep switchbacks and challenging terrain. But the reward is unparalleled: sweeping panoramas of Manaslu, Himlung Himal, and Cheo Himal that will leave you in awe. With proper acclimatisation and the guidance of experienced trekking leaders, the passage over Larkya La is a safe, unforgettable milestone of this Himalayan adventure.

ย

Descend into Stunning Diversity

After conquering the pass, the trail descends into the Marshyangdi Valley, revealing entirely new landscapes. Explore alpine meadows blanketed with wildflowers, dense forests, and dramatic gorges carved by the Marshyangdi River. Along the route, encounter vivid Buddhist monasteries, fluttering prayer flags, and yak herders tending their herds, offering an intimate glimpse into traditional high-altitude life. This section of the trek harmoniously blends natural splendour and cultural richness, creating a truly memorable experience.

Best Seasons for the Trek

Spring (March โ€“ May):

Experience stable weather, clear skies, and blooming rhododendron forests. Trails are livelier, sharing the adventure with fellow trekkers, while panoramic mountain vistas are at their peak.

Autumn (September โ€“ November):

Enjoy crisp mountain views and comfortable temperatures. Trails are less crowded, offering a more tranquil trekking experience.

Both seasons showcase breathtaking views of Manaslu, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal while providing favourable trekking conditions. However, the Larkya La Pass trek is challenging, often featuring snow or ice, so proper trekking experience, gear, and guidance are crucial for a safe and successful journey.
