The first recorded ascent of Mardi Himal was accomplished in 1961 by a British expedition led by Colonel Jimmy Roberts, a pioneering Himalayan explorer. Colonel Roberts played a key role in opening many trekking routes in Nepal to the world.

Officially, Mardi Himal was opened to climbers by the Nepalese government in 2012, which is why it remains relatively untouched and less commercialised. This makes it an ideal choice for climbers seeking a pristine and adventurous Himalayan experience.

Peak Climbing Adventure

From Pokhara, your journey to Mardi Himal Base Camp begins immediately. The trek combines lush forests, charming villages, and panoramic mountain vistas. Over the course of 5 days of walking, you ascend gradually, allowing your body time to acclimatise while enjoying the natural beauty of the Annapurna region.

By Flight:

A 25–30 minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara offers aerial views of the Himalayan range, including glimpses of Annapurna and Machapuchare (Fishtail) peaks. Flights depart multiple times a day, making it possible to arrive in Pokhara early and start your trek the same day.

By Drive:

The road journey takes approximately 6–8 hours, passing through terraced hills, rivers, and traditional villages, offering a cultural insight into rural Nepal. Though longer, the drive allows you to experience the vibrant landscapes and local life along the way.

From Pokhara, your Mardi Himal expedition begins immediately. On the same day of arrival, you meet your trekking guide, Sherpa team, and support staff. After a briefing on safety, acclimatisation, and equipment, you start your trek toward the Mardi Himal Base Camp.
